Green River, Pinedale, WY Fishing Report
July 3, 2001
|
The Green River is fishing well, but has been somewhat inconsistent.
Hopefully that will change now that the Grey Drakes have begun
appearing. Water levels actually came up slightly last week helping to
preserve the float fishing for hopefully another couple weeks.
The good days have been very good while the off days have been much
less so. Look for the Grey Drakes around 11 am (though the hatch may be
short lived). The spinners have been returning to the river around 5 pm
and the fish have been on them. Adams, Parachute Adams, Extended Body
Grey Drakes and Grey Drake spinner patterns in sizes 10 and 12, are all
good calls. A size 10 grey bodied soft hackle pattern, fished slightly
below the surface, can be deadly.
Streamer action has been so-so, though you will turn the occasional
huge trout. Large JJ Specials and Kiwi Muddlers are good bets for the
streamer fisherman.
There are still some Golden Stones hatching, so be sure and have a
few on hand. Black Tarantulas and Power Ants are bringing them up
between hatches.
