Green River Fishing Report
August 24, 2010
The Green has dropped considerably in the last couple weeks. With the flow at Warren Bridge currently at 186 cfs, the river is now pretty much unfloatable unless you put in at Hatchery or below. Even then, be prepared to possibly walk your boat in a few spots. Also, keep in mind that you cannot float over the low-head diversion just above the Daniel take-out right now.
That said, wade fishing on the upper Green is pretty good right now, especially in the cooler temps of morning and later afternoon/evening. Ants, hoppers and similar attractor-type terrestrial flies, with a dropper beadhead about 18-24" below the dry fly, are working great.
Turck's Tarantulas (especially with a red body) have been moving some big fish. I would also use Swisher's LSS Chernobyl, Fat Alberts, and Idylwilde's Red Parachute Hopper (sizes 6-10) on the surface, with a Bi-Color Prince, Flashback Hare's Ear or Red Headed Stepchild as my dropper.
